I simulated how long players would last in Russian Roulette
Russian Roulette is typically played by loading a six chamber revolver with only one bullet, spinning the chamber and taking a shot at yourself. So essentially you have a 5/6 chance of surviving and a 1/6 chance of dying.
The following distribution curve shows a Monte Carlo Simulation of 10,000 players playing a maximum of 1,000 rounds. No player in any of my simulations have ever made it past 60 rounds.
Here are the summary statistics of how long the players lasted:
count 10000.000000
mean 6.005900
std 5.472171
min 1.000000
25% 2.000000
50% 4.000000
75% 8.000000
max 59.000000
So given that, you might be able to last 4-6 rounds in Russian Roulette, however your odds of surviving past 5 rounds, let alone 60, (as shown in the histogram) get very very small. So in short, don’t play Russian Roulette.
You can take a look at my code here and try out the simulation yourself. Each time you run the simulation you should get different results, however, if you run the simulation with many players (over 1,000) you should get very similar results.
No people were harmed in the making of this simulation.
